What is the event all about?
This event is designed to provide both a fun day and a means of showing the development of performance horses under saddle. The logic is that however hard one concentrates on breeding the best bloodlines, it is the performance of the horse that matters most.
The Sport Arab and the Trakehner horse are closer than many would think. They are both bred in closed stud books, and are true breeds in themselves, but are interlinked, as the Trakehner stud books have used the very best Arab and AngloArab blood as well as Thoroughbred for 275 years to enhance the performance of the breed.
The event is set up so that both breeds will benefit, and will compete together, and its overall objective is the improvement of training of performance horses.
For 2009 we intend widening the event to include other breeds that have some Arab blood in their genetic make-up.
ANY SURPLUS THAT IS GENERATED WILL BE DISTRIBUTED AS HORSE TRAINING BURSARIES.
